PVV extends its farewell to Victoria’s longest serving police horse, Randwick, who has passed away at 25 after a well-deserved retirement.
Also known as Mr Reliable, Randwick during his 20-year career at Victoria Police was tasked with some prestigious duties – from escorting the late Queen Elizabeth on her Melbourne tram trip in 2011, to carrying gold medalist Gillian Rolton in the Queens Baton relay for the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Randwick’s calm, professional nature made him the perfect teacher to other troop horses when they joined the unit. He also boasted incredible confidence when completing operational tasks – from search and rescue operations to crowd control.
He shared a special bond with Sergeant Amanda Crowley (pictured), who he worked with for a number of years.
Randwick will be missed across Victoria, and we thank him for his service.
