Ever wondered who makes up our Board and what they do?
Here’s a snapshot of the members of the PVV Board and what they do to help support and grow our organisation.
Within our Board is the People Committee and Finance & Risk Committee, both of which are registered with ASIC as Directors and ACNC as Responsible persons.
New members of our Board include Lindsey Hilliard and Michael Hayes, who add to what CEO David McGowan describes as a “wealth of experience”. Lindsey is the Board’s new Deputy Chairperson.
“The addition of Lindsey and Michael to an already first-class Board is a win for PVV,” he said.
“I have no doubt our new Board will contribute to PVV’s ongoing successes.”
Lindsey and Michael join a distinguished board including Mark Azzopardi (Chairperson), Martin Ford, Michelle Birkic, Lisa Byrne, Dr Jon-Paul Cacioli, Ken Kour, John Felton, and David McGowan.
Mark Azzopardi joined the PVV Board in 2020 and brings forward years of experience as the Managing Partner of Tax Advisory at Findex.
Martin Ford, the Board’s Treasurer, is a Partner in PwC’s Business Restructuring Services team, with 20 years’ experience helping advise financiers. He also chairs PVV’s Finance & Risk Committee.
Michelle Birkic is an accredited Mental Health social worker working in private practice, having previously worked as Clinical Advisor and Program Coordinator with PVV from its inception.
She has extensive experience in PTS and a particular interest in police mental health. She chairs the PVV People Committee.
Lisa Byrne, a previous Chair of Cycling Victoria, is a partner at Notitia Consulting with specialist skills in developing Business Intelligence and Master Data Management solutions within fast paced, geographically diverse environments.
Also on the Board is Dr Jon-Paul Cacioli, the Group Manager Wellbeing Services for Victoria Police. Jon is responsible for managing wellbeing and psychological support services to 22,000 Victoria Police employees, as well as their family members and veterans.
He is responsible for Police Psychology, Welfare, Peer Support, Case-management, Internal Witness Support and Chaplaincy.
Ken Kour, an originating member of PVV’s Board, holds a Juris Doctor Law from Melbourne Law School and is Corporate Counsel at Vocus Group. John Felton, a Superintendent with Victoria Police, performs an ex-officio role as the Chief Commissioner’s representative on the Board.
Lindsey is a police veteran, having served as a sworn member of Victoria Police between 2003 – 2015 in uniform and detective roles.
She holds a Bachelor of Science (Monash University) and is currently the Senior Manager of Corruption and Conduct Investigations at the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
Lindsey is an avid supporter of programs that support mental and physical well-being and is also a certified health coach.
Michael is a Victoria Police veteran serving between 1981 and 2000. He left Victoria Police at the rank of Senior Sergeant after stints in general duties, criminal investigation, special operations and training.
After completing post graduate studies in adult education and training Michael held senior positions in operational risk and resilience including 12+ years for one of Australia’s top publicly listed companies working in Australia and overseas.
He continues to remain very close to policing and emergency services in a professional and private capacity due to his work roles and family connections.
